RESPONSE TO, CARE AND RE-WILDING OF MOUNTAIN LIONS IN CALIFORNIA

Currently, rehabilitation of mountain lions is prohibited in California.

While many injured or ill lions might not make a full recovery, there are some that could make it through rehabilitation to be released back to the wild.

We believe the Department of Fish and Wildlife should approve rehabilitation of mountain lions on a case by case basis.

To assist the Department, WES organized a team of rehabilitation experts to write a draft for Best Practices for rescue and rehabilitation of lions in California. We submitted our recommendations in 2015.
